The Société du Parc Jean-Drapeau unveiled a $55-million plan to revive the Ile Ste-Hélène, on Wednesday.

The Island currently houses La Ronde, the Biosphere and some remains of the Expo 67 World Exhibition.

According to the Gazette, the budget should include vistas over the St-Lawrence river, the restoration of the Place des Nations, and laying grass over the Osheaga festival site.

Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre voiced concerns over the project, stating that the paramunicipal organization had an history of underestimating project costs.

The renovations should be completed by Montreal’s 375th birthday in 2017, which is also the 50th anniversary of Expo 67.
