It`s that time of year again dear listeners. Time for homecomings and homecookings. The holidays. Time to kick up our heels and shake off our spurs. So with that in mind, we`re not gonna be around for the next few weeks. But luckily our bumpkin Yokel Ono drank away his bus fare, so he`ll be warming our chairs while we`re away. I think they`ll be a `classic` episode for you in the new year too. So don`t go nowhere`s.
Hey cool kids. This sunday (tomorrow, the 5th of Decembre) your favorite djs are spinnin at Casa Del Popolo. Come out come out wherever you are. Bring your favorite record and we'll play something from it. Bring a mix tape (a real, bonified cassette) and we can exchange. Do it! Starting at ten o'clock...
and in case you were confused, your favorite djs are us, sassafrass and sasparilla. Just in case you weren't sure.
As you may have noticed dear listeners, we at the PAH and Eat My Country have recently discovered the wellspring of CBC radio 3. Ten years behind, you say? Yeah well, better late than never. So we're playing newer, canadianer stuff. Pretty exciting. We'll keep doing it, so don't you worry. I just thought I'd mention it...
So we're always looking for new country, but we're a bit short sighted, so if you wanna help us, give suggestions of bands to check out, shows to kick up our heels to or albums to spin, send us a message at eatmycountry@gmail.com. We'll be so very much obliged!
Yeah yeah, it's the second sunday, so DJ Sasparilla and I are DJing at Casa Del Popolo. That's tomorrow, the 21st of November in case you were confused. Y'all should come, cause it's gonna be bangin. Spinning all types of styles from Afro-beat to Latin heat, from down home blues to hip hop crews, from rockin country to new york junkies, we've got it all. Bring a VINYL record with a song you wanna hear and we'll spin it. Bring a mix-tape and we can exchange (a real cassette tape though, no fakers!) Yeah!
Check it out, check it out- BOOM! We got coming up the dramatic conclusion of our special on Fela Kuti. In case you don't know who he is, you should DEFINITELY check out our upcoming show, because then you will. A bit of background: Fela Kuti was a Nigerian musician, activist and all around cool guy who, along with the somewhat unsung sidekick Tony Allen, basically invented afro-beat, pretty much the best dern music around. We're playing a three part special on Mr. Kuti (we played the first segment last week) produced by Afrobeatradio's Wuyi Jacobs titled 'Fela Kuti: High Priest of Afrobeat- A Felabration Radio Special. Y'all better check it out!
Hey Hey!
Did y'all know that you can listen to ALL of our shows whenever you want to? That's right, just go to
and you can hear the Pan African Hour, Eat My Country as well as Hip Hop Spread on Planet Bread, an international Hip-Hop show outta Edmonton's CJSR. Yeah!
Check it out, every SECOND Sunday at Casa Del Popolo, DJ Sassafrass will be spinnin' crazy shit along side DJ Lesley Crusher. I know it's kinda confusing, every second Sunday, but just show up and hope for the best. Here's a hint: this sunday I'll be there- that's the 30th of May, so you can start your calendars now. We're rockin' funk, no-wave, afro-beat, country, jazz, krunk, new wave, electro, Heart, blues, psych, whatever the f*ck we wants to, so all will be kinda satisfied, or maybe everyone will be a bit annoyed. But not too much. Just come out and listen up, cause it's bangin!
