CJLO and The Friends Of Dorothy present: Queer Up My MTV!

On Saturday, January 7th at 7:00pm, The Friends of Dorothy and CJLO 1690 AM present Queer Up My MTV - a FREE screening of queer music videos that will take place at Concordia's E.V. 1.605 auditorium. The screening will be curated by With Gay Abandon host Julie Matson.

After the screening, come join us at Jackie & Judy Rococo Bar Spectacle (6512 ave du Parc) for an after party featuring performances by Light Fires (Toronto) and The Great Vowel Shift (Montreal). The show is pay what you can at the door.

The after party is sponsored by CJLO, Queer Concordia, and Queer McGill.

December 6th l'ecole Polytechnique Massacre Memorial

The Sexual Assault Centre of McGill Students' Society (the SACOMSS) is organizing the December 6th l'ecole Polytechnique Massacre Memorial where we remember the 14 women killed in the Ecole Polytechnique Massacre of December 6th, 1989.  Please join in on an evening of guest speakers and performances, as well as a moment of silence to honour the 14 women who were killed simply because they were women.

Humanity Talk

Unicef Concordia presents their first speaker series called "Humanity Talk".  Unicef has invited the president of the international organization Missions de Solidarite Responsable International (MSR), Victor Boudreau and other MSR executives to discuss MSR's goal to career-building sustainable development and humanitarian missions in developing Haiti, Ghana, and other countries.

A People's Gathering

The People's Campus Coalition invites you to the second edition of A People's Gathering.  An inititative aimed at building open, non-corporate, fun, and politicized spaces for those who wish to transform Concordia into a "peoples' campus"

These evenings will include, amoung other things, free food and drinks and a chance for those in attendance to announce any upcoming events, ask for help with campaigns, share knowledge, and get to know one-another in a space that is open and safe.

Calling All Sissies-Calendar Launch and Catwalk

On November 26th, the Rough Diamond Crew is throwing a party to launch SISSY, the annual calendar from Bitch Magazine illustrator Elisha Lim.  The event is also a fundraiser for the venue: the St. Emilie Skillshare.

The SISSY Calendar features 12 months of brave and beautiful queers talking about sequins, glitter, femininity, insults, courage, happiness, and femme pride.

Activism in Montreal 101

Qpirg Concordia presents monthly sessions about activism and community organization for both students and the public.  Activism in Montreal 101 includes an overview of collectives, groups, organizations, campaigns, and projects that people can join or volunteer, as well as answer any questions participants might have about social justice organizing in the Montreal context.
