Truculence

Khurram Syed Sher, 28, who once auditioned for the Canadian Idol TV show and is now a London Ontario doctor who has been charged with conspiracy to facilitate terrorism has been granted bail. Does this mean he's not the dangerous terrorist he was first described as?

On the subject of possible trumped up charges comes a story that makes me question what in Hades has happened to our country? Alex Hundert remains in jail after his Sept 17, 2010, re-arrest for refusing to sign what he deemed to be overly restrictive, excessive bail conditions which are: non-association with individuals such as Harsha Wallia and Dan Keller and groups such as AW@L and No One Is Illegal. No planning and or participating/planning public meetings or marches and no expressing political views in public, including in the media. He was re-arrested for supposedly violating the G20 bail conditions imposed on him, which included the condition of non-participation in any public demonstration. The government and police concluded that Hundert's speaking on a university panel was akin to participating in a demonstration.

Is it within the boundaries of what's legal in Canada to disallow the expressing of opinion in public? How is it possible that one man, Stephen Harper, can wreak this much havoc on our justice system?

Apparently the United Arab Emirates incident where they didn't allow Peter MacKay and Chief of Defence Staff Walt Natynczyk to even enter its airspace during a flight from Afghanistan has revealed a rift in the PM's cabinet and reflects a Harper ...fit of pique and a hard [core] position that is truculent and unreasonable against Canada’s short- and long-term interests.
