Tuesday Afternoon

Blogging the morning's stories a bit late here as there was all kinds of reading I had to catch up on. Day 2 after being off for a week and it was good for me in many ways. Mostly, the reinjection of passsion into how I feel about some of these issues particularly the environmental ones. It's pretty easy to get discouraged by the lack of real movement on the issue but you can't let it! That's how the bastards plan to win!

5,000 retards show up for a teabaggers rally and wall to wall MSM coverage and yet 100,000 concerned citizens show up to rally for action on Climate Change and nothing! I'm sure you couldn't help but notice that 42,000 gallons of oil are now spilling into the Gulf of Mexico daily after the explosion that sunk the oil rig off the coast of Louisiana.

Here's the full broadcast, most of which I played, taken from NBC's Today Show 40 years ago on the 1st Earth Day. Everybody sounds so sane and the issue is considered a no-brainer (paraphrase).

In Canadian news of note there's the story about the crooked Mayor of Outremount. And in Ottawa, the feds are refusing to fund programs that include abortion part of a G8 initiative to improve the health of mothers in poor countries. Embarassingly sad as this program is supposed to transcend such issues as it attempts to do something about the estimated 500,000 childbirth deaths in developing countries each year are caused by complications from women becoming pregnant too young and too often in quick succession.

We briefly glossed over a day's worth of hate in the life of Rush Limbaugh. Speaking of hate, it was easy sport making fun of David Duke as he defended the teabaggers. And finally Rachel Maddow had an easy time herself making fun of the Republicans who were busy trying to obstruct Wall Street reform.

Talk tomorrow!
