Weekend Blogging and Wed./Thurs. Links

Okay back blogging on a Sunday to catch up up with the end of my week shows. Today would appear to an historic day south of the border and possibly a pivotal turning point in left/right politics. Here's what I mean:

The Healthcare Reform Bill which by every indication looks like it will pass later today will change the dynamics beginning with the coming Nov. mid-term elections. A newly energized Democratic base will turn up to vote with this tangible, major victory to spur them on. This will keep mid-term losses to a minimum and the dynamics will still favor Dems.

This will hold for 2012 too (barring unforseen events)) and the Republican base, who are the people furthest to the right and responsibble for nominating the candidates for that year including the Presidential candidate will not be able to come up with anyone reasonable (bet on that year's nutty candidate) to replace Obama with and he'll get his 2nd term. This should force the Republicans to re-think their strategy of complete obstructionism and start looking for actual policies to fight for and to fight against policies they disagree with in a more sane and cogent manner. Everyone take one step to the left! IMHO that is.

Okay, on with the end of the week's links: Sad news as reports of Right Whales dying in record numbers http://bit.ly/aidX1g And 10% of European butterflies facing extinction along with other fauna http://bit.ly/bEsGDF And climate change is showing freak storms on every continent http://bit.ly/aWO9FI But it's not like the MSM or the NYT's even are interested http://bit.ly/9RsBvg Really, climate change is real and it's a problem that will only get worse with inaction http://bit.ly/9RsBvg

The fight for Kandahar which is sliding into lawlessnes http://bit.ly/cc3T98 to be different than fight for Marjah http://bit.ly/dAgjhn Meanwhile in Hellmand, Marines going their own way (rogue?) http://bit.ly/bc6An7 And the Taliban up to same old intimidation of locals crap http://bit.ly/b1ouzm

A story about America's secret prisons http://www.countercurrents.org/lendman160310.htm

Care to guess where Iraq got all the foreign germ samples that it used to create their biological weapons  http://nyti.ms/cPzRRm

Haiti, no longer a sexy story still needs help http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8571593.stm

Let's get to the crazy since Glenn Beck spent his week going all in for crazier and crazier. Who the hell does Congress think they are? http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/201003150037 And what's wrong with attacking the mother of an uninsured woman who died? http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/201003150047

Strangely and sadly, Beck has nothing on Stephen Baldwin for right-wing, bat-shit crazy http://bit.ly/dD5Ng3
