Algonquin leaders testified at the Quebec inquiry into the treatment of Indigenous people on Tuesday.

According to CBC News, Indigenous people face severe discrimination as they are treated differently because of color of their skin and are frequently denied public services, such as healthcare, in English instead of French.

The hearings will continue for the rest of this week.

Alberta’s justice minister Kathleen Ganley apologized to the mother of a young indigenous survivor of sexual assault who had been severely abused by Canada’s justice system.

According to CTV News, the young woman was shackled at the legs during court hearings, was locked inside of the same police van as her attacker and was forced to remain in jail while her attacker was roaming free.

The 27 year old survivor was unfortunately killed in an unrelated shooting and Lance Blanchard was convicted of several counts of sexual assault following her death.

Attacks on the Iranian parliament and Ayatollah Khomeini's mausoleum in Tehran have killed at least 12 people and injured 40 others on Wednesday morning.

According to BBC News, Iranian officials were able to prevent a third attack from happening.

This has been the most serious case of terrorism in Tehran since the early 1980s.
