Acetate Gratified

Hosted by

Acetate Gratified is my outlet for playing the music that tickles me in a meaningful way to other people, in the hopes that I might pass on the tickling. Each week I'll play music that is fuzzy and floaty and generally fairly amiable in nature, focusing more on the aesthetic and vibe than genre. Think of it as being spooned by a sonic Wookie (or several sonic Ewoks) for an hour each week. Who couldn't love that?

Good for music to accompany your marathon tea-drinking sessions. Or for vacuuming your dog (wear headphones). Or for creating static electricity by rubbing balloons on your angora sweaters. Or for lying in bed awkwardly attempting the initiate the nightly rest ritual. Perhaps not so appropriate for a super cool skateboarding video (though it would really depend on the skateboarding video).

This show was once called The Subplot. It is no longer called The Subplot. If you liked that show, please try this one. It falls in the same area on the good/not good spectrum. If you didn't like that show, try this one anyway. Perhaps you and I have both spent enough time apart that we can be friends again.

Over at Stereogum you can here the first single off of Fucked Up's upcoming album David Comes To Life. The song itself is entited 'The Other Shoe'.

I was late to the Fucked Up Party, only getting into them after The Chemistry of Modern Life came out and seeing them perform live at Sala. I was always into the blend of aggression/energy and melodicism they are able to put across without sounding forced.

If this new track is any indication, the new album is something for which to get excited. There is a huge amount of stuff going on filling up the stereo space (I listened through...

Anyone involved in home music production can relate to this. Driving is a great way to feel out your mixes.

This weekend the Foo Fighters played a secret club show (oooooh) in Santa Barbara, previewing their new album in entirety.

Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYjaTOXWuWY&feature=player_embedded

The new album was tracked in Dave Grohl's garage entirely on analog gear. I'm intrigued by what is to come from the Foos after the last few years, which have been largely disappointing.

Stereogum has the skinny on new Tim Hecker, Montreal's own guru of all that is ambient. Check it out here.
