Unabridged

Hi and welcome to Unabridged the CJLO 1690am open mic show. Unabridged is the brainchild of Bassam Chiblak, Lachlan Fletcher, and Jessica Lynn MacDonald, three Concordia students who wanted to inquire into a not oft used technological medium that would promote the literary experiments of local Montréal dramatists, poets, and prose writers. Upon individually suggesting to personally develop a creative writing show in the summer of 2009 to CJLO program director, Brian Joseph, the latter realised that if  Bassam, Jessica, and Lachlan, worked together on a united venture, then a literary show would be feasible.A lot of preparation has gone into the show’s concept. Many of you have probably even heard of the proposed program from the source–its creators. Furthermore, you may already have potentially been in touch with them about the show. The buzz is huge–think beehive–expectations are high–don’t think kite, think CN tower–but in order for this thing to work  everyone’s help will be required. How can you be of assistance? Simple. Listen to Unabridged regularly when it airs in mid-November. Who knows, perhaps you–or someone you know–may become a guest reader.  Submit your literary work. Join our team. Tell everyone to check out our website: www.unabridged.ca

Thanks to everyone who showed up to the CASE Reading at Trois Minots last Thursday. It was pretty fantastic; good music, good literature, good beverages. Indeed, a most successful evening. Make sure to listen over the next few weeks as we air some of the great content we accrued.

This is the fair lady of Unabridged just letting everyone know that my dear co-hosts have adorned me with yet another delightful new moniker. Thanks, Bassoon and Locksmith.

DON'T FORGET TO COME OUT TO 3 MINOTS ON THURSDAY NIGHT. Read some of your stuff. Open your earsies to some of everyone else's. And let's not forget a pleasantly peachy preview of a radio drama written by Yours Truly (or falsely) to be aired on Unabridged later this season.

May the wrath of The Ginger Dragon be upon you if you fail to comply.

Today we're covering our session with Ilona Martonfi, a highly respected figure of Montreal's literary culture. Make sure to listen, as we also had a great chat with Ilona during her reading in which she really opened up her history and creative process. It was a moving experience, and we all look forward to sharing it with radioland.

Unabridged will be at a CASE poetry and short story reading on Thursday, January 28th. Make sure to come down and listen to the fantastic authors or read your own material!

Worst case scenario you can make small talk with Bassam, who will love it. LOVE IT.

See you there.
