Brian Holidæ began Communication Studies at Montreal’s Concordia University in 2004. He soon became a volunteer at CJLO as the host of the hip hop program “Phantastiq Cypha” under the moniker Döc Holidæ. In 2006, he became the Hip Hop Music Director and attended the annual CMJ Music Marathon for the first time. The conference helped the already sociable Holidæ develop new relationships with fellow broadcasters from all over North America. He has since had the pleasure to return to the conference on two other occasions. In late 2007, in addition to being the Hip Hop Music Director, Holidæ became the Program Director. He was present to usher in CJLO’s launch onto 1690AM in October of 2008. In May 2009 Holidæ was a panelist at the Western Australian Music Industry (WAMi) Conference held in Perth. He now oversees a variety of tasks that include; hiring new DJs, reviewing show content, planning radio specials and keeping CJLO within the guidelines of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). While helping the station to keep with the CRTC guidelines and after a decade in College/University radio, Holidæ has developed an interest in making Canadian content a priority.
