According to the CBC depositors removed 700 million euros from Greece’s banks amid the country’s latest political stalemate.  Talks to form a governing coalition have failed following the inclusive results of last week’s election.  Greeks are expected to go back to the polls mid June.

The Environment Commissioner released an audit outlining Canada’s destined failure to meet its greenhouse gas reduction targets.

According to the Globe & Mail Environment Commissioner Scott Vaughan said the federal government isn’t moving fast enough to regulate Canadian industry to fulfill its former Kyoto obligations or the replacement targets it set for itself.  Although the federal government has reduced some emissions Vaughan says there's a serious lack in effective planning and coordination among federal departments.

Premier Jean Charest won’t let Education Minister Line Beauchamp meet with striking student groups until they condemn Monday’s vandalism attack.

According to the CBC several Montreal buildings were splashed with red paint and had their windows smashed Monday morning.  Montreal police also reported four attempted firebomb attacks.

Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois of CLASSE denied that his coalition of protesting students had nothing to do with the incident.  He refused although to condemn the activities citing that it was not...

Plastic Guns 2Hearings on whether the province can extend its injunction on the long-gun registry continue in Quebec Superior Court today.

According to CTV lawyers for the federal government attempted to squash Quebec’s injunction on the long-gun registry in court yesterday.  The injunction which expires today requires Quebecers to continue to register their long-guns and prevents the feds from destroying its portion of the data.

Fidel Castro posted a web message admonishing Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

The former leader of the communist regime wrote an editorial on Cuba’s government website called Stephen Harper’s Illusions.

According to the Canadian Press Castro criticized Harper for destroying Canada’s environment by extracting oil to bow down to U.S. needs.  He also condemned Canadian mining companies for backing harmful projects in Latin America affecting millions.

Castro ended his piece by expressing the irony in the fact that traditional Cuban-designed shirts will be worn by leaders at the Organization of American States summit next week when Cuba has been denied...
