Today I was honoured to have to wonderful guests: folk musicians Sarah Greene and Ben Veneer. Not only did they take care of that pesky task of finding something to talk about between songs, they played an incredible live set that had me and fellow DJ, Cordelia Black, completely transfixed. These guys are fresh off a recent tour in the maritimes and they're doing a show tonight, May 13th, at the Shaika cafe. I would encourage you to check them out on either iTunes or on Bandcamp.

Heading out to see Alfa Rococo on April 29th at La Tulipe was an experience that was - as my friend described it - “quintessentially French." Striped shirts and glasses that begged the question “do you have a prescription for that?” were out in full force. However, there were also pockets of people that are normally under-represented at concert: children and older folk. It was actually quite endearing to see the concert as a gathering of music lovers of all ages. However, the music itself left me with...

Montreal is known for a lot of things: poutine, riots, gorgeous people, riots, a vibrant nightlife, riots, riots, riots. What it is not known for, however, is quiet, limp, lethargic concert crowds. Sit down, Cold War Kids fans, because you will most likely not enjoy this review.

First of all, I want to say that my introduction serves a purpose. I feel the need to talk about Montreal and its concert culture because this was the first thing I noticed...

The Goo Goo Dolls show on the 16th of February drew in a fairly large crowd of devoted fans. Perhaps, once upon a time, one would have needed to sit in the rafters of the Bell Centre in order to see these guys, but, regardless of where music has gone in the last decade, these guys are still legendary. The 90s just wouldn't have been the same without songs like "Iris," "Black Balloon," "Slide," and so many others. Who can't remember spending afternoons in their bedroom blasting albums like "Dizzy Up The Girl" (probably while eating...

Hey everybody,

Steve Bick performs live on the Chesterfield Hour today. Yes, he officially picks the live session cherry on my show. I wish I could have been a little more prepared for him and his gang since they were amazing. I could not have wished for better for my first real interview and live show. They were down to earth, talented, AND interesting.

Check out the podcast if you missed the show, also take note of his MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/stevebick

He also mentioned that you can pick up his EP on iTunes and I highly recommend it. I very much doubt this will be the last I hear of these kids. Great folk-rock sounds, there's even a harmonica!

Best of luck to you in the future Steve, and I...
