Blackdot Benefit Here's a little update on my personal life. I've gotten myself into a really big heap of trouble. Unfortunately I didn't know it until it happened. As some of you may know, I was a member of a collective which ran the Blackdot venue. As you may also know, the city shut the venue down. However, I had already decided that my time at the Blackdot was up a few weeks beforehand. The problem is that some rent wasn't paid, as well as debts left by the previous tenants was still not fully paid. Also, the situation was not cleared up between the Blackdot and the building at the time the city shut down the venue... so now I'm personally getting sued. I wish I could say this was my fault, and it is, in the sense that I wasn't more vigilent in staying on top of what was happening with the money flowing in and out of the place. Now my mistake is going to cost me big-time. So BridgetheGap will be organizing a benefit show in September with a bunch of cover bands in order to pay off some of this unpaid debt and missing money. Details will be coming soon. In the meantime if you're interested in helping out in any way, please let me know by shooting me an email: bridgethegap@cjlo.com |

Back On Track While we've been back on air during our new timeslot since February, it's taken me a while to get truly back on track. Tonight, you will witness this firsthand. Jax will air the interviews she got with Lou from Sick of It All and with the boys from H20 last week. Plus, some live clips which have gotten the ok to air from both www.hardtimes.ca & from Chris of www.errorfm.com (Mondays 7-9pm). Tune in on Tuesday, August 12th at 8pm for all the fun. A night dedicated to these 2 NYHC bands, and the punk rockers who dragged them on tour, Rancid. |

Out of the Office Sorry kids, but BridgetheGap will not be coming to you live this week on Tuesday, August 5th. The problem is that I will be at both Rancid concerts this week, in order to interview Sick of It All and H2O!!! I will work around the clock to make sure those are ready to air on the following show. Check back here over the next week for more news. |

Blackdot Retrospective As you may have heard, our beloved Blackdot was closed by the city in the month of May... that is if you have ever heard of this venue. Odds are if you're reading this page and have tuned-in to BtG before, you know all about this. We thought it finally time to have a retrospective of the dozens, possibly hundreds, of bands that played our tiny venue in the 7 months it was open. Maybe some fo the boys from the Blackdot crew will be in to reminisce with me. ***This episode has been postponed indefinitely!!! More info to come soon. |

Get Funky, It's Your Birthday That's right folks, it's BtG's 2nd birthday. How does one celebrate their own radio birthday? By being lazy, and playing a bunch of old stuff from the last two years. Tune in tonight, June 17th, and again on July 15th for a 2 part retrospective. We'll listen to some interview clips, live sessions, and other crazy favorites. |

New Intro While this may not be exciting news for many of you, I have been waiting for this moment for months now. The process began with my comeback and new timeslot back in February, with simply figuring out who could help me out in this endeavor. Finally, a team was put together, including the likes of Mobs Goodness, DJ SoSo and Rukhie Wonder. After a few weeks of only being told of the genius that would eventually be unleashed on CJLO, the day has come where I finally hear the finished project, along with all of you, for the very first time. The team has managed to keep all of this a secret from even I... so it should be a good laugh at the very least. Tune in tonight, Tuesday, June 10th at 8pm... and send me your emails to let me know whether you think we should keep or ditch the new BtG intro. |

Mikerule Takes Over Alright kiddos, it's been awhile since we've had a co-host of any kind. Finally, someone has decided to join us on BridgetheGap... the first time since the Blackdot crew came in to cause havoc and do bad live on-air tattooing. Mikerule, one of the co-founders (if you will) of www.hardtimes.ca, and former contributor to www.qchc.com So Mr. Mikerule will be controlling the music and topics of conversation... which could mean trouble. If you do not know this local colourful character, he has a tendency to cause trouble with his words, as he is a bit of an old-time sh*t disturber. Warning, this episode will not be for those whose feelings are easily hurt. Tune in Tuesday, June 3rd from 8-10pm... and check out www.hardtimes.ca for Mikerule's regular rants. |

Work, work, work It seems that while everyone else at the station is off for studying, homework, or out of town at this end of the semester... I will be working. Yes, BtG was on hiatus and moved times because of my new job. Unfortunately this new job will also require that I be absent from my show every now and again. So this Tuesday, April 8th will be one of those Tuesdays where you will be stuck listening to a repeat of the show. Very sorry kids, but I will be back next week in full force, possibly with interviews and/or sessions. We will keep you posted here, as we often try to do. Ciao for now. |

A Whole Lot o' Shakin' Paddy's Day weekend is now over, and I'm sure some of you are still feeling it's nasty effects. Well if you're still suffering from a headache perhaps you should just go to bed like the old fart you are. If you're in near top shape like my youngself, tune in tonight for a random playlist of loudness. Next week, we'll finally review RMR: The Book. It's an easy read, particularly if you're already a fan of Rick Mercer. So you still have a week to play catch up. The next book in line Death of a Revolutionary: Che Guevara's Last Mission by Richard L. Harris. If you have been reading along, or would like to but can't find a copy of the book, contact me. Maybe I can pass you my copy! |

WE'RE BACK I know this is very exciting news for some of you... It is for me! We'll be back on air every Tuesday with a new timeslot: 8pm-10pm, starting February 19th. We'll be playing the same kind of stuff as usual, just at a new time. Look for new interviews and sessions in the near future, so stay tuned to BridgetheGap every week!!! Also, with the new timeslot we're hoping to get some of you more involved, by coming in as guest hosts, calling in to stir up trouble on-air, and generally just have listeners participating more actively. |

Going on vacation? This Tuesday, Dec. 18th will be the last edition of BtG in it's existing 4-6pm time slot. Unfortunately there will be no more BtG until we can find a new timeslot, which is as of yet unavailable. So kids, this is where we say goodbye for now, but keep tuning in to CJLO, and we'll keep you posted about a new timeslot. |

Halloween!!! After living through a week of illness and another week of CMJ madness, your favorite dj has finally got on top of her stuff. BridgetheGap will be packed this upcoming Tuesday, Oct. 30th!!! In fact we'll be so busy that we are going to have to put the continuation of our Top 100 punk songs of all time on hold, yet again. But alas, no need to worry. Instead we will air a live session we recorded with Swiss-rock band The Peacocks and our interview with Career Suicide. Also, we must not forget, our annual Halloween special, where we whip out the best of horror-rock and psychobilly evilness. And, of course, tune in the following week for the continuation of our Top 100 (according to Jax). Sorry to any of the kids who may have been excited to get this Top 100 deal over with... but remember, patience is a virtue.

Bridge the Gap: News - Tuesday, October 9th, 2007 |
Sorry For those of you who tuned in today expecting more of my picks for the Top 100 punk tracks of all time, I am sorry. Unfortunately I have been not well. Next week I will also not be in. So we will only continue our Top 100 on Oct. 25th. Sorry again friends. |
Bridge the Gap: News - Monday, September 24th, 2007 |
Top 100 Tunes Finally, the list has been made. We will begin our series, which should take 4 or 5 episodes, this Tuesday (Sept. 25th). Generally, we tried picking songs for their classic factor, but obviously this list is my (and JP's) subjective opinion on the best 100 punk songs of all time. And yes, I am a girl! So some of these songs are going to have mega cheesy-factor. But after making the short-list, I realized that, as usual, we are way under the required 30% Canadian content... so we've made a best 25 punk songs list separately for the Canadian bands. You don't want to miss this!!! |
Bridge the Gap: News - Monday, September 10th, 2007 |
No Redeeming Social Value Yes, it has finally happened! I got an interview with my most all time favorite band... albeit a very drunk and ridiculous one, No Redeeming Social Value. Tune in Sept. 11th to hear Queen's finest. |
Bridge the Gap: News - Sunday, August 19th, 2007 |
Top 40 Punk albums?! Now anyone who was tuned into CJLO last Tuesday at 4pm knows, we at BtG decided to put together a list of my top 40 punk rock records of all time. We also did a separate top 10 of Canadian punk records. Last week we played the bottom half, and this week will be the top records. Wanna know what made the top of our list? Tune in August 21st at 4pm and find out! |

Live Sessions!!! While we can't interview every band that comes to (or near to) town, BridgetheGap is still bringing you some exciting stuff this summer. The most recent news is that Rabies and Warkrime will be in our studios this weekend to record live sessions for us (which will air either on July 24th or 31st... depending on how quickly I can mix everything). |
Bridge the Gap: News - Saturday, June 30th, 2007 |
Pulling Teeth Hailing from Baltimore, Pulling Teeth came all the way to Mtl just for a live session with me! Well, not really. But they did come record a bunch of live tracks with us on Friday, before their show at l'Inco. Tune in on July 10th to see what came of it... you don't want to miss it!!! |

Interview - The Fallout (Toronto) Tune in this Tuesday (June 26th) between 4-6pm for a live call-in with Byron from one of Insurgence Records newest additions: The Fallout from Toronto. If you like what you hear, they'll be in town playing at Le Local on Friday, June 29th. |
Bridge the Gap: News - Wednesday, May 9th, 2007 |
The Dwarves - Postponed to May 15th So, Blag of the legendary Dwarves didn't make it to the CJLO studio on May 8th for my show, as we were all hoping (sniff, sniff). But he did come in during the Hooked On Sonics timeslot! So we have a sexy interview involving nudity, a whole lot of non-CRTC approved language... and live solo love songs (you know, the ones that really bring a tear to your eye). So tune in on May 15th for the whole debacle. |
Bridge the Gap: News - Monday, May 7th, 2007 |
The Dwarves - May 8th Hailing from San Francisco, the Dwarves will be rockin' out at Club Lambi on Tuesday, May 8th. But before they take the stage, they'll be droppin' by BridgetheGap to gab about the tour and their recent projects... and maybe a live set? So tune in to BtG from 4-6pm, and email any questions you have for the band to bridgethegap@cjlo.com |
Bridge the Gap: News - Monday, April 2nd, 2007 |
Happy Birthday to moi!!! Alright folks... it's my birthday and so I'm throwing myself a party in the CJLO studio on Tuesday, April 3rd from 4-6pm. Tune in to listen to me age another year. On the program for the day: a Vicious Cycle live session, recorded earlier this month... and cover day (meaning all cover songs for the whole show)!!! |
