On Sat. Feb. 28th, the 2009 Montreal International Music Initiative Awards Ceremony will be taking place at Les Saints in Montreal.  Otherwise known as the MIMI's, it is meant to highlight emerging artists in Quebec indie music scene.  The five winners for this year, Lake of Stew, Le Matos, Parlour, Random Recipe and Witchie, will receive their awards on Saturday as well as perform at the ceremony.  We.Are.Canadian. are happy to announce that we will have MIMI ballot director, Sebastien Charest, LIVE IN THE STUDIO, to chat with us about this exciting musical event this week. 

But not only that, We.Are.Canadian. will also be giving away a pair of tickets for the Montreal show on Sound of Fiction tour, featuring Bend Sinister, Mobile and Inward Eye!  The concert is Fri. Mar. 6th at the Club Soda and you'll have your chance to get in for free courtesy of Listen Harder Inc.

Regina formation Sylvie will be chatting with us this week to talk about their current tour to support their newest album, Trees and Shade are Our Only Fences. The five-piece will be heading across North America this fall, including a date at Montreal's Club Lambi on Oct. 18th.

While you can preview songs from the record by downloading their recently released EP Fences via iTunes, the full-length Trees and Shade are Our Only Fences will be available on CD on Smallman Records on Oct. 21st.

We'd like to extend our apologies to MAP, the fans and listeners of We.Are.Canadian. this past Monday, September 29th as we had technical difficulties that prevented the farewell interview with the band from taking place. We were all greatly looking forward to talking with member Guillaume but sometimes there are circumstances beyond our control.

However, we will try to make up for it this weekend in Quebec City during MAP's final performance where we can hopefully grab the guys for a quick chat and air it on the next show. Stay tuned right here and we'll keep you posted.

This week on We.Are.Canadian. we will be having a live phone interview with punk formation MAP, who hail from Quebec City, the capital of the province. The independent quintet have been together for 13 years now but are just about to call it quits with a final performance at L'Imperial du Quebec on October 4th. They'll be hitting the stage with Mute and O'Linea that night so be sure to tune in to the show on Monday, September 29th on CJLO.com between 6 and 8pm (or Friday, October 3rd on PunkRadioCast.com between 8 and 10pm) to catch what will be one of the group's last interviews and find out what the soon-to-be ex-MAP members have planned for the future.

Sept. 13 at the Club Soda in Montreal (with Black Lungs, The A.K.A.S. and Anti-Flag!). As for our weekly syndication on PUNKRADIOCAST.com, the show will begin airing that Friday, September 26th from 8-10pm (instead of Tuesday nights from 11pm-1am)!

Alright, so we're letting the cat out of the bag a little bit earlier than we thought we would, but we just couldn't keep the big news to ourselves any longer!  As the title of this post so explicitly suggests, CJLO's very own We.are.Canadian. will now be syndicated weekly every Tuesday from 11pm-1am EST on PunkRadioCast.com.  The show will of course be broadcast live via the CJLO studios and airwaves every Thursday from 6-8pm EST but if that time slot just isn't doing it for ya, you'll now have a second chance to get your dose of the best in Canadian music with your hosts Stephanie and Melissa on PunkRadioCast too!  This Thursday's show, May 29th, will be the first to be re-aired the following Tuesday, on June 3rd.  Be sure to tune this week so you don't miss what will no doubt be a very memorable We.are.Canadian.!  Talk to you then, Melissa & Stephanie
