The New Noise is very excited to have San Jose, Costa Rica's, OVERSEAS, and Montreal's LAUREATE on a jam packed episode Monday, May 12th at 9:00.
Both bands will be performing live to air, and sticking around for some Q&A.
OVERSEAS are touring Canada for the first time in suppost of their newest album, Hardships.
Hardships is the second release from Overseas who hail from San Jose, Costa Rica. The 6 song ep shows a noted departure from their first endeavor and shows a new level of maturity from these Ticos. The last song on the ep, Closer, features Chris Martin from Hostage Calm doing guest vocal duties, and both bands will be playing together at Pouzza Fest, and will be performing the song live.
Following in the footsteps of bands like Samiam, Seaweed, and Sunny Day Real Estate, Overseas have taken the harder aspects of their first album, O Captain! My Captain! and translated that passion into a delivery that is more melodic with a solid nod to the 90’s.
Hardships will be digitally released on Tusday, May 13 with the vinyl version to follow in August, 2014, on Pavones Records. But until then, you can stream the new album over at Vakarme and get ready to sing along.
LAUREATE
Founded by longtime friends Giancarlo Talarico and Erin Power, Laureate is a Montreal quartet with a 90's writing style influenced by punk sensibility. The two began jamming, and after releasing a three song demo in 2010, they recruited Mike Thomassin on drums.
In 2011, the band recorded the “Leave a Light On” EP with Juno winning producer Joseph Donovan (Sam Roberts, Stars, The Dears), which has since been released by Pouzza records in 2013. “Leave a Light On” has gained positive critic reviews, including being featured in AMP Magazine's Unsigned Artist Spotlight.
With the addition of lead guitarist Matt Garies in 2012, Laureate has shared the stage with such acts as New Found Glory, Samiam and The Jealous Sound.
These pretty punks recently released two LP demos from their upcoming LP, which sound absolutely killer. You need them in your life, they will make you a better human.
Both bands will be playing Pouzza Fest IV on May 16 - 18.
