Concordia University disapproves of Charter of Values

Concordia University's Board of Governors and Senate have denounced the PQ's Bill 60 and have asked them to amend it.

According to CTV News, the university has released a statement saying they are in support of certain principles adopted by the charter, namely equality between men and women, and secularism of the state.

However, they are against the legislation banning the wearing of "ostentatious" religious symbols, as well as any laws infringing on the university's autonomy.

The statement also reads that Bill 60 puts the school's peaceful diversity at risk.

This statement is supported by eleven of the university's unions and associations, including student and faculty associations.
