Alberta premier Alison Redford has resigned following public criticism of her high travel expenses.
CBC News reported that Edmonton MLA Dave Hancock will be the interim premier until a new leader is selected.
On Sunday, Hancock will be sworn in as Alberta’s 15th premier.
Hancock is a member of the Progressive Conservative party, which will select a leader in the next six months.
He says he does not plan on running in the new leadership race.
Redford will remain as the representative for Calgary-Elbow.
