Igloofest Recap >> Weekend Two

Igloofest! January 16 - February 8, 2015 >> Presented by Sapporo

With a strong turnout on weekend one, the second weekend of Igloofest took off running and Montreal just kept the party rolling despite the Arctic-like weather!

Friday night started with a solid lineup that included German deejays Loco Dice and Robert Dietz, and the party continued well into the weekend with New York electro-house DJ Manik alongside Dutch deep house expert Oliver Heldens on the Sapporo Stage. Not one to be outdone, the Videotron Stage played host to a wide selection of local and Canadian talent with Dave Luxe and Da-P bringing some dirty south beats, and one half of the Juno-nominated duo Graze XI played alongside Montreal's Prison Garde!

Saturday night's the night!

Saturday was the night to be at Igloofest. The mood, the weather, and great music provided the perfect mix and everything just fell into place! Launching the night's festivities was local duo Rue Palm on the Sapporo Stage (click here for Rue Palm's live set on AutoBeat!). Good friends Alfred Borden and St-Louis both share similar tastes in music and have great chemistry behind the decks at Le Bleury-Bar à Vinyle every month, and their soulful house and techno tracks at Igloofest set the tone for the night as everyone in the amassing crowd started dancing.

Denmark's Kölsch picked up where Rue Palm left off with his blend of classic Detroit techno, packing a bag full of crowd favourites and lots of energy. It wasn't long before everyone on the dance floor started moving in unison.

The last time Swedish producer Joel Mull played Igloofest was in 2011, and this year he returned to the Old Port for another techno onslaught, and what a set it was! His many hits can be found on labels such as Turbo and Drumcode.

Back on the Videotron Stage, two other pairs of buddies took care of the dance floor. Quebec City's Duo-Tang have been known for their nonchalant way of partying and dropping some serious party jams, and JG and Sapin were up first to get the turntables spinning with their mix of house, disco and techno sounds.

The midway point has been reached, but there is still a lot more to come at Igloofest. The line-up next weekend is the most diverse one so far with the likes of Joey Anderson, John Digweed, M.A.N.D.Y., and local hero Tiga. It definitely should not be missed! See you on the dance floor!
