CJLO IS LOOKING FOR A SUMMER VOLUNTEER & OUTREACH COORDINATOR

CJLO 1690AM is a campus/community radio station based out of Concordia University’s Loyola campus located in NDG in Montréal, Québec. CJLO belongs to the not-for-profit corporation Concordia Student Broadcasting Corporation (CSBC) and represents Concordia University and its community. CJLO has been streaming online for over 20 years and in 2008, began broadcasting on 1690 AM throughout the Montreal area with 1000 watts of power. Currently running with a volunteer core of over 90 members, the station broadcasts a wide variety of musical and spoken word content.
CJLO is currently looking for a short-term, summer Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator to assist the station with outreaching to both on-campus and off-campus organizations, manage social media accounts, help recruit, train and assist volunteers, and take part in the planning and execution of the annual funding drive. The chosen candidate will take CJLO to the next level in its development and continued growth.
Duties & Responsibilities
On-Campus Outreach:
Reaching out to student groups and organizations for collaborations
Tabling at Concordia events and fairs (Volunteer fairs, Clubs fairs, etc.)
Representing CJLO at campus events
Working alongside the Program Director to identify gaps in the CJLO schedule and recruiting DJs as needed
Collaborating with Concordia Student Union to promote student initiatives and involvement
Off-Campus Outreach:
Reaching out to local non-profit organizations for collaborations
Tabling at local fairs and events relevant to the CJLO community
Working with DJs to plan remote live-broadcasts at various locations in the city
Assisting CJLO staff with the planning of the annual Funding drive, monthly concert series, panels, and other relevant events hosted by the station
Writing a monthly newsletter for community members and CJLO donors
Social Media:
Assisting in managing CJLO’s various social media accounts (Instagram, Tik Tok)
Responding to comments and messages on CJLO’s accounts
Making consistent (daily) posts across platforms in collaboration with CJLO staff
Working closely with CJLO sponsors to ensure promotional needs are met
Consistently generating new ideas for fresh, innovative content
Working alongside CJLO’s Art Director for outreach and recruitment campaigns
Volunteer Management:
Training and managing volunteers interested in CJLO promotions
Working alongside volunteers tabling at events and on-campus
Managing a small team of volunteers interested in creating social media content
Working with the station manager for outreach and promotion of station volunteer opportunities
Requirements & Skills
Strong planning and organizational skills; can meet deadlines with ease
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Concordia University and campus & community radio
Experience with Office programs such as Word, Powerpoint, Excel
Experience using and managing social media platforms, such as Instagram, X (Twitter), and Tik Tok
Bilingualism an asset

Type of Position: Contract, part time 20 hours per week
Wage: $17.75/hour
Location: In-person at CJLO 1690AM office (7040 Sherbrooke Ouest, CC-430). Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to Montréal, Québec. Some flexibility with remote working.
