Montreal's Maison Oxygene is hoping to raise 25 thousand dollars before the end of March to be able to stay open.

According to CBC News, the non-profit centre provides housing and services for fathers and their children, but will be forced to close if they cannot find the funding needed.

Maison Oxygene's director, Sarah Gaudet has been applying for financial aid from the government since 2012, but to no avail.

At the moment, five fathers and their children are staying at the centre, and Gaudet is hopeful that they will be able to obtain government help if they can stay open past April 1st.

Rob Ford, Toronto’s controversial former mayor, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 46.

According to The Globe and Mail, Ford lost his life after an 18-month struggle with pleomorphic liposarcoma, a rare form of cancer that forced him to withdraw from the election as mayor of Toronto.

Earlier this month, Ford’s family had launched getwellrobford.com, a website dedicated to collecting positive messages of support for him.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gave his condolences to Ford’s family, along with several other officials.
