Magneta Lane

Along with Uncut, Magneta Lane also gets the title of being the first band to ever come on time to CJLO (see the Uncut session profile for more details).

Soooo…while everyone was setting up, we made coffee for the Uncut and Magneta Lane while they waited.  That’s where the problems arose.  No cups or mugs (we usually have a whole bunch thanks to Hughes of Monday nights’ Born to Lose (8-10pm ET on CJLO) who usually “borrows” some from one of the Teacher’s Lounges.  Soooo, we went to the nearby cafeteria/study area (the Guadagni Lounge to all you Concordia students) and I managed to sweet-talk the attendants into giving us a few styrofoam cups (seriously, people, you’re gonna charge for paper cups?  Daaaaaaaaaamn).

Then, we had realized we had no cream.  Not really down with the Coffeemate dairy substitute we usually rock, Lexi, Robot (aka Alex the Program Director) and I went to back to the Guadagni Lounge.  What was the goal?  Robot and I were to “distract” the attendants while Lexi “borrowed” the carton of cream.  Not really master thieves (er…I mean, “borrowers”), we…uh, failed the mission.

Anyhow, the Magnetas were some of the nicest people to ever pay visit to CJLO and are crazy tight musicians (check out French’s hand as it blurs up going supersonic on her bass, yo…and we still don’t understand how Nadia is able to drum with a blazer on…crazy and stylish).   When faced with Mr. Robot’s "controller.controller challenge"©, we got two brand new tunes from Magneta Lane : “Twenty-Two” and “The Artistic Condition”.  Awwww, we love these kids.

Oh yeah, in the end, everyone was left with the Coffeemate…good thing I don’t drink coffee, that stuff’s wacky.
