Operators Live @ CJLO

After three long months spent on the road in support of Future Islands, Operators found themselves back in the city where they recorded last year’s rousing EP 1. Montreal is a city with a lot of history for lead singer Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs, Divine Fits) and his new band was eager to showcase their sound by playing a couple of shows at last November’s M For Montreal. In between gigs, the band found the time to schlep their gear out to CJLO 1690 AM studios for a live session in The Oven.

Dan was joined by keyboard/sequencer whizz Devojka, drummer extraordinaire Sam Brown also from Divine Fits and the New Bomb Turks, and rounded out by ex-Hot Hot Heat bassist Dustin Hawthorne. After a quick line-check, the band took to the airwaves to effortlessly tear through two yet-to-be released songs.

The band was nice enough to hang around afterwards, and Dan even sat in for a quick chat, live on CJLO’s "Dirty Work".  The following night, the CJLO crew were in the audience to see Operators take to the stage at La Sala Rossa for a wonderfully shambolic set that culminated in their unique take on The Misfits’ “Where Eagles Dare.” Needless to say, we can’t wait to have them back in The Oven.  Huge thanks to Andrew Robinson @ Last Gang Entertainment for making this happen!
