After (correctly) being told by a few friends that I'd love Montreal-via-Halifax's Play Guitar and finding out that ex-CJLOixcan Jackson MacIntosh was now playing with the band, I contacted the group to see if they'd be interested in recording a live session @ CJLO for Hooked on Sonics.
The group (pared down to a trio for the session due to scheduling conflicts) performed 4 songs, two of which were brand new (and part of their live "Youth Trilogy") and one was a cover of Television Personalities "This Angry Silence" (which unfortunately due to mic malfunctions was rendered futile in post-production). Since then, many DJs at the station fell in love with the group's mix of 90's shoegaze, canadian indie rock, and 80's brit post-punk and their debut longplayer Shields and Don't Worry About Death spent countless weeks on CJLO's charts.
The band was also one of the many local bands gracious enough to donate their time and songs to our 2011 Signal to Noise Pakistani flood relief benefit concert series. Thx guys!
