'Dear White People' is worth seeing

Dear White People takes place at a fictional Ivy-League university, and focuses mainly on four charaters: student activist Sam White (Tessa Thompson) who has a controversial radio show called “Dear White People”, Troy Fairbanks (Brandon P. Bell), whose father is the Dean of the University, Lionel Higgins (Tyler James Williams) who is an awkward uncomfortable budding writer, and Colandrea “Coco” Conners (Teyoneh Parris), perhaps the most ambitious of the bunch.

An Interview with Concerto Della Donna

Concerto Della Donna is a Montreal-based choir of female voices that has graced the world with its beautiful performances for over a decade. Tune in to The F Hole on Monday, December 15th at noon to hear special guests Marie-Claire Saindon, Amena Ahmad, and Katherine Black talk about their experiences in this choir, the history of it, and why the group has unfortunately disbanded. We'll also discuss the director, Iwan Edwards, and his career, as well as the documentary that the group recently produced. Join us in honouring this outstanding group of singers and one of Canada's finest choral directors as we listen to their stories and to their music.

Devin Townsend Project @ Club Soda

So the Devin Townsend Project was in town on December 1, and I'm sorry to say that if you missed it we are no longer friends. It was way past my bedtime and so I didn't even stay for Animals as Leaders, but you have no excuse. Monday is the new Thursday, after all. In any case, I got what I came for, but now I face a mild dilemma. As the guy who got in trouble a couple months back for overplaying DTP's latest issue Z², it'll be hard for me to write this without it coming off as a love letter, so fuck it. Committing to the form.

Dear Devin Townsend,

Hevvy Devvy!

A decade later, Death from Above 1979 turn it out at Metropolis

Jom Comyn Live @ CJLO

Jom Comyn stopped by The Oven Studio at CJLO in late October to lay down some tracks for Best of the West.

Jom was born in  Edmonton Alberta, but grew up 30 minutes outside the city in those wide open spaces that the Prairies are famous for.  He started his musical journey at the age of 11 on drums, picking up the guitar around the age of 14.
