Lots of awesome bands have recorded live sessions at CJLO over the years! Check out our latest featured sessions here or view the complete list.

You Say Party! We Say Die! Live @ CJLO

Hot on the heels of burning up CJLO’s top 10 and in town for Pop Montreal, Vancouver 5-piece You Say Party! We Say Die! stumbled into the CJLO studios October 1, 2005 covered in blood. Covered in blood? Damn right. Well…sorta. The guys and gals had just got out of a photo shoot (the results can be seen here) and the fake blood proved to be a lot more difficult to get off. Meh, not really a bad thing. The bloodied-up look is punk.

Wintersleep Live @ CJLO

After performing a stripped down set for Hooked on Sonics earlier in the winter of 2005, Haligonians Wintersleep, whose sophomore record spent 3 consecutive weeks at #1 on the CJLO Top 30, returned to our studios July 28, 2005, and this time plugged in for a full electric band session.

Wintersleep Live @ CJLO

Paul, Tim and Loel of Wintersleep visited chateau CJLO February 25, 2005 (Jud was missing somewhere in downtown Montreal). Wanting to do something a little different, the guys decided to do a stripped down session for Hooked on Sonics, and recorded the songs with Paul on acoustic guitar, Loel on drums, and Tim on ye ole keyboard.

Uncut Live @ CJLO

On the afternoon of December 12, 2004, the CJLO studios were paid a visit by Toronto's Uncut and Magneta Lane, dropping by to record respective sessions and interviews for Hooked on Sonics.  Now, bands always come late for sessions, but as a precaution, whoever's responsible for the session still gets to the station a little bit earlier than the agreed upon time to set up, etc.  Due to work, I was running late, and o

The Bled Live @ CJLO

Tuscon’s The Bled rolled into the CJLO studios October 28, 2005 and recorded what probably has been the loudest CJLO Session to date.

After having serious trouble getting to the station (thanks, Mapquest…who, for the record, gives the complete opposite directions to get to the station, sending you to East Montreal, rather than West), the guys trucked on, determined to get this session done.

Sekiden Live @ CJLO

Aussie new-wave pop punkers (and really tall people) Sekiden dropped by the CJLO studios June 6, 2004.  Showing up in town to find out their gig was cancelled, they were still determined drop by CJLO and record a live session for Hooked on Sonics.

Salteens Live @ CJLO

Trucking in all the way from the west coast, Vancouver, BC’s the Salteens brought their peppy power pop to CJLO  September 30, 2004 in town to headline the CJLO  sponsored Boompa Records showcase at the Pop Montreal music festival.  Unfortunately, the Salteens got to be part of what was probably the most problematic Sonics Session yet - every technical problem that could go wrong did.

The Posies Live @ CJLO

One of the highlights of hosting and producing this very show is that sometimes I manage to luck out and get to interview some of my musical heroes like Robert Pollard (Guided by Voices) or John Reis (Rocket from the Crypt, Hot Snakes, Drive Like Jehu).  This time I managed to up the ante and got Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer of The Posies to come on down to chateau CJLO and spend a good hour talking about their music & careers as well as record four acoustic versions of some of their songs.

Pattern is Movement Live @ CJLO

Philly poppy math rock indie quartet Pattern is Movement made their way to the CJLO studios on a Sunday afternoon, October 2, 2005, before their show for Pop Montreal.  Funny thing with this session is it was initially supposed to happen in the summer but got botched up by yours truly.  See, I had called back their label to set up the session when lo and behold, I had accidentally marked down the wrong weekend for when I thought they’d be in town.  Turned out, they had already passed through the previous weekend.  Good j
