3 Inches of Blood Live @ CJLO

Not many bands would show up anywhere before the fashionable time of noon o'clock unless it was for something huge.  That's not the case for 3 Inches of Blood, who showed up at CJLO early on a Monday morning at 9:30 to do a session at our lovely station. Not only did they come to do the session for what most bands would call an ungodly early part of the morning, but they also did it on the first day of filming for a documentary that's being made about them and their tour across Canada with the

Reversing Falls Live @ CJLO

Montreal scrappy power pop trio Reversing Falls dropped by the CJLO studios to record a live-to-air session for Hooked on Sonics, proving that they're pretty darn loud to everyone in the station and impressing us all with their robo drum machine.

Snailhouse Live @ CJLO

Sometime in January of 2005, Mike Feuerstack aka Snailhouse dropped by the CJLO Studios to record a session for the staff-favourite-but-now-defunct CJLO show Lessons in Lo-Fi.  Having already been by CJLO with the then-reunited Wooden Stars around late 2004, Mike played fantastic stripped down renditions of 2001's The Opposite is Also True's "Repetition", and Bell from the A New Tradition EP.

Play Guitar Live @ CJLO

After (correctly) being told by a few friends that I'd love Montreal-via-Halifax's Play Guitar and finding out that ex-CJLOixcan Jackson MacIntosh was now playing with the band, I contacted the group to see if they'd be interested in recording a live session @ CJLO for Hooked on Sonics.

PS I Love You Live @ CJLO

Dropping by Montreal for the M is for Montreal industry showcase festival, Kingston noise pop duo PS I Love You dropped by CJLO's studios to record a session for Hooked on Sonics. Getting a lot of attention lately for their 2010 full-length debut, Meet Me at the Muster Station, the guys played a track off of that, as well as a track off of their self-titled EP and a seriously amazing version of the title track off their Starfield 7".

Derelict Live @ CJLO

After burning up the CJLO metal charts for a while with their 2009 release Unspoken Words, we invited Montreal metal act Derelict into the CJLO studios one quiet April morning to unleash their brand of death metal upon our listening audience. Being the super nice guys that they are, they loaded in effortlessly as Andrew and I set about putting together mics and figuring out logistics.

Blacklist Royals Live @ CJLO

Nashville's Blacklist Royals stopped by CJLO's studios on the evening of their Saturday night show in Montreal, sent our way courtesy of publicist extraordinaire, the lovely Melanie Kaye.  Opting to do something a little special and stripped down for the Hooked on Sonics show, the band lugged up an amp and a Les Paul and did it "Billy Bragg-style with frontman Nat playing most of the songs solo, or with some background vocals from the rest of the guys
